The forward look
TR:C thesis
Markets edged slightly lower as it is preparing for the expected rate hike season for the rest of this year, though some speculate that rates could hold (We find that very unlikely). Crude oil still sits over $100/bbl as no developments are made. In this political time, we see focus on the American midterms as Congress Republicans try to hang onto their majority. The Fed holding rates could also be seen as political and contradictory to Warsh stressing inflation as an issue at Jackson Hole. Retail Sales m/m also comes out tomorrow morning, though we are not confident that a strong number will have any effect on the Fed decision. Stay tuned for the decision tomorrow, and, like anything, nothing is certain.
