Accenture reported revenue up 6% year over year to $18.7 billion against estimates of $18.03 billion, and adjusted EPS up 9% to $3.29 against $3.18 expected. It guided fiscal 2027 EPS to $14.39 to $14.81 against an estimate of $14.62, with revenue growth of 3% to 6% in local currency and an operating margin of 15.9% to 16.1%. Brent oil jumps more than 4% as U.S. reportedly sends third aircraft carrier to Middle East

Brent crude rose 4.4% to settle at $102.31 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures climbed 2.7% to settle at $92.87, following a report that the U.S. is sending a third aircraft carrier strike group to the Middle East. CNBC

Treasury yields retreated from multidecade highs: the 10-year touched about 5.3% intraday before closing at 5.24% (-5bp), the 2-year fell 10bp to 4.78% and the 30-year fell 3bp to 5.61%, with the 1-year (-10bp to 4.44%) and 5-year (-8bp to 5.01%) also lower. Equities edged higher: the S&P 500 rose 0.19% to 7,666.45, the Dow 0.04% to 50,926.56 and the Nasdaq 0.04% to 26,871.60, while the VIX ticked up to 16.39. Energy (+1.95%) led sector performance alongside Technology (+1.05%) and Industrials (+0.99%), while Health Care (-1.32%) and Communication Services (-0.93%) lagged. Brent's December contract settled up 4.37% at $102.31 after a report that the U.S. is sending a third aircraft carrier strike group to the Middle East. Gold rose 0.33% to $4,203.00 and the dollar strengthened (DXY +0.55% to 102.05). Among individual names, Accenture (+15.78%) led S&P 500 gainers after fiscal fourth-quarter results above estimates and fiscal 2027 guidance, followed by Synopsys (+12.78%) and Fair Isaac (+11.69%), while Paramount Skydance (-9.58%), McCormick (-4.87%) and Danaher (-4.42%) led decliners. Today's calendar carries ISM manufacturing PMI, weekly jobless claims and remarks from Governors Waller and Cook and Vice Chairs Jefferson and Bowman. September nonfarm payrolls follow on October 2, the ISM services PMI on October 5, the August trade balance on October 6 and the minutes of the September 15-16 FOMC meeting on October 7.
